Blackjack Beginners Guide There are some basic things that you should know when you are going to go online and play Blackjack. If you have never played Blackjack before you should read our Blackjack Beginners Guide, read on to find out what you need to know about the game and how it is played. First is the Dealer, the dealer completely controls the game. He deals the cards, pays the players when they win, and collects the bets when they lose. Next you should know the layout of the Blackjack table, there is room for seven players and the dealer. In front of each one of the players there is a little circle that is where the player is to place their bets and the table is usually green in color. Now down to the game, it begins with each player getting dealt two cards one face down and one face up. There are some casinos that deal each player both of their cards face up but it isn’t as common. Now depending on what the total of the players two cards are in contrast to the dealer they have some choices. The goal is to get the cards to total twenty-one without going over. To achieve this goal you can ask the dealer for a “hit” which means requesting another card, you can “stand” which means that you don’t want anymore cards or you “bust”. Busting is not good, this means that you lose the hand because you went over twenty-one. There are some basic Blackjack terms that you need to know before you jump right into the game. To Split means to make two hands out of your two original cards and bet the equal amount on each hand. To Double Down is to double your bet and you can only receive on more card. Bust means to go over 21. Stand means to not want any more cards. A Soft Hand is an Ace plus any other card but ten (Aces count as 1 or 11) A Hard Hand is a hand without any Aces, this way the hand can’t be altered. If the dealer has dealt himself a sixteen or lower they have to hit, however if they draw a seventeen or higher they have to stand. This means that a good way for a player to win is to always stand on seventeen or higher and on any number from thirteen through sixteen if the dealers hand holds a six or lower showing. If you have a seven through Ace always hit. You have to make the decision to stand or to hit solely based on what the dealer is showing, not what you think you can get. Always, always hit on a ten or an eleven you can’t bust no matter what. Also if you can always Split Aces and play both hands out. Stay if you have cards that equal 12 through 16 if the dealer has 2 through 6 showing.
