Blackjack Rules

When you set out to play Blackjack online, you should be familiar with all of the rules of the game before you get yourself into something and you don’t know what’s going on. First, the object of the game is to get cards in your hand that add up to 21 or closest to it without going over. The cards all have different values, the face cards, which are Jacks, Queens, and Kings, are valued at 10. Aces can be counted as 1 or 11 and all other cards hold their face value. You need to be able to beat the dealer’s hand without “busting” (going over 21). If you are the player who has the total that is or closest to 21 you win.

Before you get any cards at all you must bet. You do this by placing the amount you wish to wager on the circle in front of you. Now the dealer deals you and each other player two cards to start off with. There are two ways that you can get your cards; some casinos deal both cards face up and others deal one face up and one face down. From then on each player makes the decision to either “stand” or “hit”. "Stand" means to not request any more cards and to "Hit" means to get more cards so that you can get closer to twenty-one. The players that are left, wait for the dealer to take his turn, this is done by the dealer turning up their face down card to reveal their total. If they equal up to 16 or less the dealer must hit, 17 or higher the dealer must stand. If you happen to have a total of 21 with your first two cards a 10 or face card with an Ace, you win its called Blackjack.

There are some terms that you also need to know when you are about to play online, you need to be familiar with these terms so that you can know what is going on in the game.

Insurance- This is offered to you the dealer has an Ace showing and you think that he might have a Blackjack, if the dealer actually has a Blackjack then you win 2 to 1 odds but if he doesn’t then you lose the amount of the insurance wager.

Double Down- this is when you double your original bet once you have recived your first two cards, the catch is that you are only allowed one more card.

Split Hand- To split your hand means that if you have two cards of the same numerical value (8,8) you can split them and make two separate hands with the same bet placed on each one.

Hard Hand- A Hard Hand is when you have a hand that can not be perceived as another value. This means that there is no Ace in your hand.

Soft Hand- A Soft Hand is when you have an Ace in your hand. This is because an Ace can be used as either an 11 or a 1 whichever one fits your hand better.
